Losing weight/fat fast with weight loss programs?
Vandana S asked:
I know that exercise is the best way to reduce, but I was wondering about those programs that say you can lose all the weight and look good quickly. Is this false? For example, if a person was very fat and then lost all the weight quickly, what would happen to all of the skin that was surrounding the fat? I know that when you exercise and lose weight, your skin would gradually shrink to fit your shape as you were losing the fat, at a natural rate. But with these lose-weight-fast programs, wouldn’t the the rapid loss of fat leave you with big flaps of skin? Would that shrink in time too? Or would you have to get it removed with surgery if you wanted to look good?
**btw, I’m not overweight, just a little chubby, and I exercise and eat right for the most part. Nor am I interested in these weight loss programs–I prefer to lose the weight at my own pace. I just see so many commercials and hear about these programs a lot, and it got me to thinking. That’s all.

Why won’t anyone support my weight loss goals?

I am under 5′5″ and I weigh a heavy 150 lbs and I need to lose weight. I’ve been going to the gym more and have improved my lung and heart funcs., which my doctor is really impressed with- I’m motivated!. The trouble that I have is with eating, so I need to learn to eat less and new habits.
However I feel like the people close to me don’t want me to lose weight. I was once told that my weight gain (I used to be 125 lbs) was probably “natural and healthy”– gaining 30 pounds of fat is NOT natural OR healthy! I’m not losing weight to be the next Kate Moss, I am losing weight for me. But a lot of my friends and relatives tell me to not lose more than 5 pounds and so forth. At the same time, when I DID gain weight, they were always the ones to point it out and poke fun. What gives?
I plan on losing this weight over 6 or more months, so I’m not starving or anything. But I keep being told that I shouldn’t be thin because noone’s used to seeing me thin and other crap.
Yes, many of my family members are overweight– my mother is the only one who is a healthy thin body figure out of 9 kids.
